Costarican duo Foffo Goddy will be the opening act for Bob Dylan, in the legendary artist’s first ever show in the country, on May 5th in the Palacio de los Deportes, Heredia. The information was confirmed by promoter Evenpro in a press release.

“We are very excited since the moment when the Bob Dylan concert in Costa Rica was confirmed, since he is a referent in the folk and rock history. Seeing him on a stage is great news, but playing right before him is absolutely exciting and a great responsability at the same time, because we know that his public is very exigent”, said Arturo Pardo (vocals, guitar, banjo and charango) who along with bandmate Daniel Bissinger (voice, guitar, bass) form Foffo Goddy.

The duo released its first full length album last January and was told about the decision by Andrés Guanipa, Evenpro’s speaker person. There are still no details about the time of the presentation, but they will be on stage for thirty minutes.

“Evenpro let us know that we will have thirty minutes to play our songs, so we will make the most of it playing song from all our repertoire, a few melancholic songs, happier songs and even bluegrass. Some of the songs are from our album Foffo Goddy, and the rest will come in our second album”, said Arturo Pardo.

Costa Rica is part of Dylan’s South and Central America and Mexico tour. Other Latin American cities included are Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile.

Dylan’s musical career is approaching 50 years as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and it has spawned classics such as Like a Rolling Stone, All along the Watchtower, The Times They Are a-Changin and Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door. He has won 11 Grammys in his career, and an Academy Award and a Golden Globe in 2001 for the song “Things have changed”, which was featured in the film “Wonder boys”.

Tickets are currently being sold through www.specialticket.net, with prices going from 44.000 to 75.000 colones.
